South Carolina Flips Four-Star WR Iveon Lewis Away From Kentucky

South Carolina has secured a commitment from four-star wide receiver Iveon Lewis, who has flipped from Kentucky, delivering a notable blow to the Wildcats' recruiting class. The news was first reported by Rivals' Hayes Fawcett on Tuesday night.

Lewis, a product of Huguenot High School in Richmond, Va., had been pledged to Kentucky since May 9. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound receiver is rated the No. 358 overall prospect in his class and had been considered one of Kentucky's top commits on the offensive side of the ball.

Official Visit Proves Decisive

Lewis took his final official visit to South Carolina over the weekend before announcing his flip to the Gamecocks. South Carolina had previously been a finalist for Lewis before he initially chose Kentucky, meaning the program maintained a relationship with the receiver throughout his commitment to the Wildcats.

The flip represents a significant recruiting development within the SEC, as both programs compete for talent in the mid-Atlantic region. Lewis's original commitment to Kentucky came in May, giving the Wildcats just over a month with him in their class before South Carolina ultimately changed his mind.

With Lewis now redirecting his commitment to Columbia, South Carolina adds a highly regarded pass-catcher to its recruiting class while Kentucky must look to replace one of its top-rated offensive pledges. The flip was confirmed by Rivals' Steve Wiltfong in addition to Fawcett's initial report.
