Sean Fox Commits to Kentucky Over Georgia, Clemson at The Opening Finals
The four-star outside linebacker from Indianapolis chose the Wildcats during a live CBS Sports broadcast at Nike Headquarters.
Sean Fox, a four-star outside linebacker from Warren Central High School in Indianapolis, announced his commitment to Kentucky on Thursday during a live CBS Sports broadcast at Nike's The Opening Finals in Beaverton, Ore. The event drew 120 of the nation's top football prospects to Nike Headquarters for two days of competition and individual evaluations.
Fox chose the Wildcats over final contenders Georgia and Clemson, giving Kentucky a significant win on the recruiting trail. He is the sixth top-300 prospect to commit to the program and is considered a blue-chip recruit.
A Priority Target Since January
Kentucky's new coaching staff identified Fox as a priority target in January, and the recruitment culminated in a commitment less than six months later. The Midwest native's decision to leave the region for Lexington marks one of the more notable recruiting victories for the Wildcats in the current cycle.
Fox's announcement came during the first day of The Opening Finals, which featured 1-on-1 sessions, individual drill work, and the opening rounds of the 7-on-7 tournament. The high-profile setting of the Nike campus provided a national stage for the commitment, which aired on CBS Sports.
The commitment was met with immediate celebration from Kentucky's existing pledge class, as future Wildcats teammates were on site at The Opening Finals when Fox made his decision. Big Blue Nation responded enthusiastically to the announcement, which came late in June — typically a quieter stretch of the college football recruiting calendar.
