Texas Closes June With 10 Commitments, Eyes 5-Star OT Camara as July Looms
The Longhorns capped a productive recruiting month by landing 2028 QB Neimann Lawrence and building momentum toward several high-priority targets.
Texas wrapped up June with 10 commitments for its recruiting class, sustaining one of the more active months the program has seen under head coach Steve Sarkisian. The pledges span multiple positions and star ratings, ranging from the nation's top-rated cornerback to a three-star prospect with developmental upside.
Among the notable additions was 2028 quarterback Neimann Lawrence, who committed to the Longhorns and gives Texas an early anchor at the position in that cycle. Lawrence's pledge is considered a significant development for the long-term direction of the program.
Camara Pursuit Continues Into July
The biggest remaining recruiting storyline heading into July centers on Gilmer, Texas, five-star offensive tackle Ismael Camara, a 2027 prospect who recently made a point of returning to Austin for a visit. Camara had adjusted his summer official visit schedule before ultimately getting back to the Texas campus.
Despite the Longhorns' strong connection with Camara, Texas A&M remains active in his recruitment along with several other programs. The pursuit for the five-star lineman is considered ongoing as his recruitment moves toward a decision.
Texas's staff is expected to see further returns on its June groundwork as additional high-priority targets are set to announce decisions in the coming weeks. The Longhorns' class already reflects a wide range of recruiting profiles, and more commitments are considered likely in the near term.
With linebacker depth cited as a relative weak point in the current class, the overall haul entering July is viewed as one of the stronger recruiting stretches in recent memory for the program. How Texas handles the remaining targets, particularly at the offensive line, could define the final shape of the 2027 cycle.
