Penn State Officially Launches 10-Year adidas Partnership, Ending 30-Year Nike Run

Penn State Athletics formally began its new partnership with adidas on July 1, 2026, transitioning away from Nike after more than three decades as a client of the Oregon-based sportswear giant. The agreement covers footwear, uniforms, apparel, and sideline gear over a 10-year term.

The deal represents one of the more consequential equipment changes in recent Penn State history, given the program's lengthy association with Nike spanning over 30 years. Under the new arrangement, adidas becomes the exclusive outfitter across Penn State's athletics program.

Gear Availability and Launch Events

To coincide with the July 1 launch date, adidas pop-up shops were set up for fans looking to purchase new Penn State gear. The activation came alongside the program's 23rd annual Lift for Life event, giving supporters an early opportunity to engage with the new brand.

Questions remain about the broader retail rollout, including when fans will be able to purchase the full range of new adidas Penn State merchandise through standard retail channels. The pop-up shops on July 1 offered an initial but limited preview of the new product line.

The partnership launch arrives as Penn State Athletics has been pursuing a wider transformation effort. Athletic Director Pat Kraft has pointed to ongoing facilities investment as a driver of success across the Nittany Lions' sports programs. The adidas deal adds a high-profile commercial dimension to that broader push.
