Georgia football added another in-state defensive back to its 2027 recruiting class on Saturday, securing a commitment from four-star safety Adryan Cole of Douglasville (Ga.) Douglas County. Cole chose the Bulldogs over LSU, Ole Miss, and Florida, giving Kirby Smart's staff a significant recruiting victory within Georgia's borders.

Cole is ranked No. 76 overall in the 2027 Rivals Rankings and appears in the Rivals300, making him one of the more highly regarded defensive prospects in the cycle. His commitment is Georgia's 19th of the 2027 class, continuing what has been a productive recruiting stretch for the program.

A Four-Year Recruitment Comes to a Close

Georgia's pursuit of Cole dates to the beginning of his high school career, with Kirby Smart and his staff identifying the Douglasville native as a priority prospect early in the process. Cole took an official visit to Athens on June 12 before ultimately announcing his decision. Relationships and player development were cited as key factors in his choice, and the consistency of Georgia's recruiting pitch over four years proved to be a defining element of the Bulldogs' pitch.

Cole has played high-level competition throughout his prep career and demonstrated playmaking ability in prominent moments, including an end zone interception during a playoff overtime win in 2025. Georgia's coaching staff identified significant upside in the safety and made him a sustained priority throughout his recruitment.

The commitment dealt a blow to Florida, which had been competing for Cole as part of its own push to build a top-10 recruiting class in 2027. LSU and Ole Miss were also unable to pull Cole away from his home-state program, underscoring Georgia's continued ability to keep elite in-state prospects from leaving the region.

Cole's addition gives Georgia another piece in what the staff has treated as a priority position group. The Bulldogs have built a reputation in recent years for developing secondary talent, and Cole's pledge extends that pipeline into the 2027 class.
