4-Star Safety Seth Williams Narrows Recruitment to Georgia, Clemson
The Atlanta-area prospect has set a July 31 commitment date after previously delaying his decision from July 3.
Four-star safety Seth Williams has trimmed his recruitment to Georgia and Clemson, with a commitment announcement scheduled for Friday, July 31. The class of 2027 prospect had originally planned to announce on July 3 but was unable to reach a decision as that date approached.
Williams, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound defensive back from Lakeside High School in Atlanta, ranks as the No. 19 safety prospect in the country and the No. 19 overall recruit in the state of Georgia, according to 247Sports. He checks in at No. 247 nationally.
Background and Visits
Williams decommitted from Clemson in April 2026 and has since taken official visits exclusively to Georgia and Clemson this summer. He had previously stated a desire to make his college choice before his senior season begins in August, giving the July 31 date added urgency.
For Georgia, landing Williams would address a notable gap in the program's 2027 recruiting class. Coach Kirby Smart's staff has accumulated 19 commitments in the cycle but has secured only one defensive back pledge — four-star cornerback Adryan Cole. The Bulldogs currently hold the No. 12 recruiting class in the nation.
Clemson, meanwhile, enters the competition from a position of depth at the position. The Tigers have five defensive back commitments in the 2027 class and hold the No. 13 national ranking with 25 total pledges. Despite Williams's earlier decommitment from Clemson, the program has remained in contention throughout his recruitment process.
As a Peach State native, Williams represents a priority in-state target for Georgia, which would benefit both from his on-field profile and the recruiting momentum that often comes with keeping top local prospects home. His announcement Friday will conclude one of the more closely watched defensive back decisions in the 2027 cycle.
