Richmond Randle five-star running back Landen Williams-Callis is set to announce his college commitment on Saturday, selecting from a final group of Houston, Missouri, SMU, Texas, and Texas A&M — all programs that received official visits from the 2027 prospect. Williams-Callis will reveal his decision live on Dave Campbell's Texas Football at 6:45 p.m. Central.

Ranked No. 29 overall and No. 3 among running backs in the 247Sports Composite, Williams-Callis carries consensus five-star status into his announcement. The 5-foot-7.5, 190-pound back is the nation's leading returning ball carrier heading into the 2026 season, having rushed for 7,554 yards and 133 touchdowns across three high school seasons.

Texas Trending, A&M Still in the Hunt

Texas received the final official visit of the window in June and has been trending positively since. Running backs coach Jabbar Juluke has prioritized Williams-Callis since joining the staff, and while early traction was limited, momentum has shifted toward the Longhorns down the stretch, including multiple Texas commits publicly expressing support for the recruit in recent days. The program already holds a 2027 running back commitment in Noah Roberts but is pushing to add Williams-Callis before closing out the position for the cycle. A pledge would represent another step toward what Texas hopes will be a top-three national recruiting class.

Texas A&M has mounted a late push to remain in contention. The Aggies are the only finalist without a 2027 running back commit, a factor that could work in their favor given a current scholarship roster stocked with sophomores and younger underclassmen behind redshirt junior Rueben Owens II. On3 analyst Steve Wiltfong, however, still leans toward the Longhorns.

I still believe the most confidence remains at Texas and the prediction is still with the Longhorns. But at the very least the Williams-Callis camp appears to still be going through their process and there wouldn't be surprise in College Station if they ultimately added him to their class as well.

Houston, operating as a Big 12 program under head coach Willie Fritz, visited with Williams-Callis on June 3 and faces a thinning running back room with several contributors set to depart after the upcoming season. SMU and Missouri round out the finalist group, each having hosted the prospect during the official visit period. Whichever program lands Williams-Callis will add the nation's most productive returning prep ball carrier to its 2027 recruiting class.
