Oklahoma filled its final roster spot on Monday night, landing a commitment from Arkansas transfer defensive tackle Danny Saili, who was recently granted a fifth year of eligibility. The addition completes the Sooners' 105-man roster heading into the 2026 season.

Saili's college career has taken a winding path. The Topeka, Kansas native played at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas from 2022 to 2023, originally committing to Oklahoma before flipping to BYU late in that cycle. After one season with the Cougars, he transferred to Arkansas ahead of the 2024 season and spent the last two years with the Razorbacks.

In 18 games at Arkansas, Saili recorded 14 total tackles and 2.5 sacks. According to Pro Football Focus, he logged 379 snaps over his two seasons with the program, including 313 snaps in 2025, and graded as a top-20 run defender among SEC defensive tackles with at least 170 snaps. He entered the transfer portal in January before ultimately choosing Norman.

Size and Experience Add Depth at Nose Tackle

At 6-foot-3 and nearly 320 pounds, Saili brings veteran experience and SEC-tested size to a Sooners defensive line that was rated the best in the country by Crain and Cone heading into the season. He is expected to compete for rotational snaps at nose tackle behind Jayden Jackson, with his ability to absorb double teams and occupy space in the running game adding value to the unit.

Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables addressed the importance of his defensive front at SEC Media Days last month, emphasizing that winning the line of scrimmage remains central to the program's identity.

This is a line of scrimmage league, make no mistake about it. The margins are incredibly small. I would argue if you lose the line of scrimmage in any particular game, most of the time you're going to lose the game. That's where it starts for us. It's not only a mentality, you recruit to that, you nurture that.

— Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables

Saili joins an Oklahoma program that made the College Football Playoff last season, finishing first in the SEC in yards per game allowed (272.5) and points per game allowed (15.5). The Sooners are seeking a second consecutive Playoff appearance in 2026, with their defense again expected to anchor the effort.
