Fall Camp Reports and a Recruiting Jolt
Programs across the country cracked open their 2026 camps on Saturday while Ohio State locked up a quarterback for the future.

Saturday brought a wave of fall camp dispatches, giving the first real look at where several programs stand heading into the 2026 season. From Tuscaloosa to Coral Gables, position battles are taking shape, coaches are under scrutiny, and the gap between expectations and reality is beginning to close.
Quarterback rooms dominated the conversation. PFF issued its national rankings of signal-caller depth and put 
Oregon at the top, while 
Texas A&M and 
Miami both flagged their own QB situations as central storylines of early camp. The position has rarely been under more simultaneous examination across so many programs at once this early in August.
Away from the practice fields, 
Ohio State made a significant move on the recruiting trail Saturday, securing a commitment from the top quarterback in the 2028 class. It was a reminder that even as coaches evaluate rosters built for this fall, the longer game never stops.
