Texas A&M Lands Five-Star LB Henderson, Claims Three of Florida's Top-4 in 2027 Class
The Aggies have now secured four top-100 prospects from Florida in the 2027 cycle following Henderson's commitment.
Texas A&M has extended its grip on Florida's 2027 recruiting class, landing five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson and pushing its haul to four top-100 prospects from the state. The commitment, announced Thursday, adds to what has become one of the most aggressive out-of-state recruiting runs in the current cycle.
With Henderson now in the fold, the Aggies hold commitments from three of the top four players in Florida for the 2027 class: Mark Matthews, Zyron Forstall, and Kaden Henderson. The concentration of elite Florida talent in College Station underscores a sustained effort by head coach Mike Elko's staff to penetrate one of the country's most talent-rich states.
Rival Programs Left Searching for Answers
Henderson's decision delivered a notable setback to Notre Dame, which had pursued the five-star defender as a priority target in the 2027 cycle. The Irish now face questions about the direction of their linebacker recruiting and where the program turns after missing on one of the class's top defensive prospects.
LSU also came away empty-handed in the race for Henderson, with the five-star linebacker choosing the Aggies over the Tigers in what amounted to a direct SEC recruiting battle. The loss added to a difficult stretch for Brian Kelly's program on the recruiting trail.
Texas A&M's ability to accumulate top talent in this cycle has drawn comparisons to its previous No. 1 recruiting classes, though observers have noted that Elko's emphasis on culture and player development distinguishes the current effort from prior runs.
With the 2027 cycle still well over a year from its signing period, the Aggies' early dominance of the Florida recruiting landscape positions the program as a frontrunner for a top-ranked national class. Four top-100 commitments from a single state at this stage of the cycle represents a significant recruiting achievement for any program.
