Miami Lands 2028 OT Kweli Fielder, 2029 QB CJ Cypher in Multi-Class Recruiting Haul

Miami coach Mario Cristobal secured commitments from 2028 offensive tackle Kweli Fielder and 2029 quarterback CJ Cypher on Wednesday night, adding a pair of coveted recruits across consecutive recruiting classes in a single evening.

Fielder, a 6-foot-4, 325-pound tackle, chose Miami over offers from Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Ohio State, Texas and others. He is the second member of Miami's 2028 recruiting class. Cypher, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound quarterback from Carrollton, Ga., picked Miami over Auburn, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Georgia, Florida State and others, becoming the first member of the Hurricanes' 2029 class.

The two recruits are cousins, and their simultaneous commitments gave Miami what has been described as a two-for-one addition at two positions central to the program's long-term plans.

Filling Out the Future at Key Positions

Cypher's commitment is seen as a significant win for Miami's quarterback pipeline. The Hurricanes' current QB room is led by transfer Darian Mensah, but the depth behind him has been considered thin. Landing an elite 2029 prospect addresses questions about the program's long-term position at the position.

Fielder's pledge bolsters Miami's work along the offensive line for the 2028 cycle. The Top 100 offensive lineman represents one of the program's earlier commitments in that class.
