Five-Star QB Donald Tabron Sets Aug. 15 Commitment Date, Texas A&M Heavy Favorite
The 2028 prospect will choose between the Aggies, LSU, and Oregon on Saturday.
Five-star 2028 quarterback Donald Tabron III announced on Sunday that he will reveal his college commitment on Saturday, August 15, with Texas A&M emerging as the heavy favorite ahead of finalists LSU and Oregon.
Tabron, who stands 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds, has visited College Station multiple times since the Aggies offered him last October. Texas A&M quarterbacks coach Joey Lynch and first-year offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins have been the primary relationship builders for the Aggies, and the program has already collected two Crystal Ball predictions in its favor. A prediction from Rivals insider Sam Speigelman pushed Tabron's odds of landing with Texas A&M above 90 percent.

A&M's Recruiting Momentum in 2027 and Beyond
Tabron's commitment would make him Texas A&M's second pledge in the 2028 class. The Aggies, under third-year head coach Mike Elko, are currently building significant momentum heading into the 2026 season. Four-star linebacker Mikahi Allen became the 26th commit in the 2027 class last month, a group that ranks No. 1 nationally. Elko's staff is also working to flip five-star running back Landen Williams-Callis from Texas and four-star running back SaRod Baker from Texas Tech.
As a freshman, Tabron threw for 1,656 yards and 17 touchdowns, performances that immediately drew Elko's attention and prompted the offer in October 2025. At his size and with room still to physically develop, Tabron is regarded as one of the top signal-callers in his class.
Tabron's decision on Saturday will be one of the earliest high-profile commitments in the 2028 recruiting cycle and could help cement Texas A&M's early foothold on the class.
